In some parts of Portland it is becoming increasingly hard to find an available parking space. As the city grows and development increases in neighborhood mixed-use centers and corridors, the demand for on-street parking spaces is projected to grow further.
Additionally, as neighborhoods develop, the city is improving opportunities for walking, cycling and riding transit, including the installation of curb extensions, rain gardens and bike parking corrals. The results are more vibrant neighborhoods but also more demands on limited street space.
To address these issues, the Portland Bureau of Transportation is developing a citywide parking strategy as well as new tools for neighborhoods. These Parking Plan pages contain information concerning the parking planning efforts currently underway. For parking services, click here.
