Clinton Neighborhood Greenway Enhancement Project
The City of Portland Bureau of Transportation (PBOT) installed three traffic calming devices to help reduce traffic speed and volume (number of automobiles) on the Clinton Neighborhood Greenway. City staff gathered speed and traffic volume data on SE Clinton Street and neighboring streets before and after the traffic calming devices were installed and gathered feedback from residents, businesses, and neighbors in an online survey that ran from May 2 - June 7, 2016.

What is a Neighborhood Greenway?
Neighborhood Greenways are streets that prioritize bicycling and are the backbone of Portland’s bicycle network. SE Clinton has been a Neighborhood Greenway for over 20 years. This survey is part of an evaluation of updates recently implemented to address auto volume and speed issues that affect the greenway’s safety and comfort.
What is the Project Evaluation?
Portland Bureau of Transportation (PBOT) staff developed and installed two traffic diverters and converted a two-way street to one-way in the fall of 2015 to help reduce traffic volume (the number of vehicles that use the street) and speed on the SE Clinton Greenway. Since that time, staff has been gathering data to evaluate the effectiveness of the changes. The survey will also help staff and decision-makers to evaluate the effectiveness of the changes. Together, the results will be used to determine if the diverters should be permanently installed and where additional modifications for traffic calming (if any) are needed to achieve necessary traffic speed and volume results.
