for a free Ready Rider Workshops!
What are Ready Rider Workshops?
Safer Routes to School, in partnership with Providence Bridge Pedal and the Bicycle Transportation Alliance, is hosting a free bike skills training course and ride for children at each Sunday Parkways event. Bike maintenance, helmet give-away and helmet fitting will be available on site. Get your kids confident on a bike! Professional bike safety educators will teach bike skills and lead group rides. Join us at Sunday Parkways and get ready to ride safe all summer long.
Need a bike for the event? Bikes will be available for children who need to borrow one for the skills rodeo and ride.
What is Sunday Parkways?
Sunday Parkways offer a chance for families to get out and enjoy walking or biking on traffic free streets! Exploring local parks in this car-free environment with fun activities along the way like juggling, stilt walking, or hula hooping makes for a great day with the family and friends.
Portland’s first 2008 North Portland Sunday Parkways event was a big success with lots of fun for everyone. This year there will be three Sunday Parkways events.
The Sunday parkways route is a two-way directional flow with no start or finish. Travel the entire route or choose from several options for smaller routes and loops that will connect you to one or two of the featured parks. You won’t need to drive to the event. The routes are located on several bus lines and the North event is on Interstate MAX, the Yellow Line. TriMet will run their normal routes and schedules.
