Earlier this year, the City Council recognized an opportunity to 'walk the talk' on food sustainability and community service, and took a patch of grass in front of City Hall and installed a garden.

The garden's harvest is donated to the Elm Court Loaves and Fishes, here in downtown. This afternoon, Elm Court hosted a Harvest Celebration Lunch to recognize the vision of those whose effort helped make this garden a reality, the hard work of the volunteers who maintain the garden, and the many who have benefited from the garden's harvest.

Even with all of the great work happening, and the countless volunteers giving their time to feed our hungry, Oregon still ranks third in the nation in hunger.

Leaders at the City, the County, and around Portland in all sectors are ready to collaborate and work together to help the 50,000 Oregonians who face hunger on a daily basis.
