Oregonian editorial board weighs in on Forest Park trail
February 25, 2010
In "A rogue path for the bicycle cause," the February 25 Oregonian editorial addresses the illegal off-road biking trail recently discovered in a remote part of 5,000-acre Forest Park. The editorial board calls the mile-long trail "an ugly, in places oozing, gash in a quiet, not-too-accessible place."
Commissioner Fish is currently working with a diverse group of citizens to figure out how to meet the demand for off-road biking in a safe and legal way. "Just as the city presses forward to expand off-road cycling opportunities in its parks," the editorial remarks, the rogue trail undermines the process already underway.
