Updated: Clevelanders Rap for Ped and Bike Access

Couplets paired with a good groove are not your typical form of communication for transportation advocacy.  But it seems to work pretty well, at least in Cleveland.

Last week we touted the infectious rhymes of Ari Lesser who pleaded, "Let's keep Cleveland on the right track / Take a step forward not a step back / Now is our chance if we answer the call / To build a bridge that connects us all" in hopes of convincing the Ohio Department of Transportation (ODOT) to add bicycle and pedestrian facilities to a bridge the agency is planning to renovate across the Cuyahoga River.

Just a few days after our blog post, Ohio governor Ted Strickland told ODOT to reconsider its bike- and ped-less design.  The power of good song to compel bureaucratic and political action.  Wow!

I have to think it was the link on Commuter Central to this video that made the difference.

Also like the shout-out to Portland's bike maps in the comments after the Ted Strickland article.
