Street Roots takes top honors
May 25, 2010
Congratulations, Street Roots! The team was recently honored with first and second place awards from the Oregon/ Southwest Washington Society of Journalists for their work this past year.
Top honors went to reporter Amanda Waldroupe for her story "Return of the Dragon," photographer Leah Nash for her "Look at me. I am not invisible." feature, and Joanne Zuhl for "Man of the Hour," her profile of Commissioner Fish.
Writes Street Roots Director Israel Bayer on the newspaper's blog, "Managing Editor Joanne Zuhl took first place for her story on City Commissioner Nick Fish for the "Personalities" category with "Man of the Hour." Zuhl highlighted Fish's turbulent appearance into Portland politics, and what's behind the man leading Portland's Housing Bureau during one of the worst recessions in our history."
Street Roots, published every two weeks, is available at a variety of locations around Portland.
