Help preserve Tideman Johnson Park

July 1, 2010

Tideman Johnson Natural Area in SE Portland

Join us this Saturday for a work party organized by the Friends of Tideman Johnson Park and Portland Parks & Recreation. Tideman Johnson Park is named for an early pioneer family whose original land claim included this 7-acre wilderness area. The Johnsons encouraged public use of their property for recreation, putting on 4th of July picnics and firework shows. The site, in a natural gorge along the banks of Johnson Creek, was donated to the City in 1940.

This weekend's work party will focus on removing invasive species like clematis, blackberry, and ivy from the park. Join us at 9:00 Saturday morning at SE 37th just south of Crystal Springs Boulevard. Help us protect and preserve this important natural area in Southeast Portland!
