Local housing efforts need bipartisan federal support

There are over 100,000 homeless veterans in our country. President Obama has pledged to end homelessness among veterans in five years.
A promising tool in this fight is the VASH Voucher program - managed locally by the Housing Authority of Portland (HAP) - which combines a home with the services veterans need to rebuild their lives.
In an op-ed in today's Oregonian, "Local housing efforts need bipartisan federal support", Margaret Van Vliet and I call for a national, bipartisan commitment to ending homelessness among veterans.
