Arts in parks this Summer!

This summer there are many exciting, wonderful arts events happening throughout Portland's parks and community centers. While many people look forward to the Summer Free for All events every year, featuring world class music and movies in our parks, we would like to invite you to explore all Portland Parks & Recreation has to offer for arts in our community.
Here is just a sampling of upcoming arts events happening at a park or community center near you:
Multicultural group Colored Pencils presents "Colors of Portland" a mixed media group show from July 1-August 3rd at the center.
Free and reduced quality concerts from community members young and old: July 1st is the Rock Band Camp Concert (lead by Brandon Cook) 7pm
Another Kind of Tea Party: discover some plants used in herbal and green teas & enjoy other surprises from Alice's Wonderland. Space is limited! July 27th 7-8:30pm
Free programs abound: Oregon Ballet Theater "Exposed", Zydeco dancing, Pacific Crest Wind Symphony Performance and a create your own flag with artist Dawn Grunwald coming up in August.
**Also: find your inner Bobby Fisher at Director Park this summer with Big Chess (oversized chess pieces) 7-8:15pm Tu, Thu, Sat & Sun 2:15-4pm
While they provide many levels of ballet, jazz and tap there are some new programs this summer: Gymnastics Foundations, Tumbling First Timers, Exploring Classy Jazz & Modern Movements for adults and more!
