This morning, Nick joined partners from Winkler Development, the Overlook Neighborhood Association, the Interstate Corridor Business Association, and other guests at the grand opening ceremony for Killingsworth Station, at the corner of Killingsworth and Interstate.

The Portland Housing Bureau is a very proud partner on the project, which brings 57 new apartments – 34 of which will be affordable for low-income homebuyers thanks to PHB’s Down Payment Assistance Loan program – to North Portland. (The building also includes ground-level retail space.)

Nationwide, the homeownership rate is as low as it’s been since the Great Depression. Today, 57 new families can achieve the dream of owning their own home.

Additionally, the building is LEED-certified, recognizing features like high-efficiency heating and air conditioning systems, on-site stormwater management, responsibly-sourced bamboo hardwood floors, green roofs, high ceilings, light shelves, solar water heating, extra sound proofing, bike racks on every floor, and an electric vehicle charging station. Wow!
