October 25, 2011
Story by David Nguyen
Want to learn how to properly plant a tree? Want to help other people learn how to plant trees, and lead crews of volunteers at planting events around the Portland metro area? Join a Friends of Trees Crew Leader training this November!
Non-profit Friends of Trees has been planting trees in the Portland-Vancouver and Eugene-Springfield metro areas for more than 20 years. Since 1989, they've planted more than 400,000 native trees and plants. Between October 2010 and April 2011, crew leaders and teams of volunteers planted more than 4,500 street and yard trees - this Fall and Winter they're aiming for 6,000!
Crew Leaders supervise teams of volunteers at planting events in neighborhoods and in larger natural areas.
On November 5 and 19, Neighborhood Trees trainings will be held in Portland or Vancouver. The Green Space Initiative training will be held Friday, November 12.
These trainings are very popular, so if you'd like to take part sign up soon!
