Portlanders come together with "outpouring of support"
November 17, 2011
We've been amazed by the generosity of Portlanders who've stepped up with offers to contribute financially to the restoration of Chapman and Lownsdale Squares.
In today's Oregonian, Ray Whitehouse takes a closer look at one woman's desire to help:
Betsy Breyer had planning to visit her parents in Los Angeles for Thanksgiving. But after hearing the estimates of damage to Chapman and Lownsdale squares in the aftermath of the Occupy Portland encampments, she decided to stay in Portland and instead donate the cost of her round-trip Greyhound bus ticket to the park restoration effort. "I want to do my part to make sure everyone gets to use the parks in the future," she said.
