Fair Housing Advocacy Committee Kicks Off
December 2, 2011
Story by David Nguyen
Earlier this year, Council adopted the City's first-ever Fair Housing Action Plan. As part of that plan, a Fair Housing Advocacy Committee was established to advocate for strategies that further the fair housing goals outlined in the plan.
Next Monday afternoon, the committee will meet for the first time, and community members are invited to attend. The meeting will be held at the Portland Housing Bureau, 421 SW 6th, from 3 - 5 pm.
The 15-member committee includes representatives from the City, Multnomah County, and Gresham, who bring wide-ranging expertise and perspectives on fair housing. They've been tasked with reviewing best practices, coordinating public information campaigns, reviewing enforcement data, suggesting policies, and advocating for resources that support fair housing in our community.
