Central City Concern honored at Heart of the Community Luncheon
February 13, 2012
We're so impressed by our community partners!
Last Tuesday, Central City Concern (CCC) received the Innovation Award at the Heart of the Community Luncheon jointly presented by the Trail Blazers and Hands on Greater Portland.
The award recognizes CCC's Community Volunteer Corps (CVC) program, which provides meaningful volunteer opportunities to CCC clients who are working to move from homelessness to self-sufficiency. It's entirely supported by private contributions.
The volunteer opportunities support other local non-profits. After 80 hours of service over three months, participants 'graduate,' and receive a letter of recommendation and access to CCC's employment programs.
To date, folks in the program have contributed over 30,000 hours of service to our community - more than 300 people have graduated.
