The Fields groundbreaking ceremony

Nick joined Parks Bureau staff, community partners, and neighbors at the groundbreaking of The Fields Neighborhood Park.

Nick was honored to speak at the event, noting that the creation of the park is “honoring a commitment to the community."

Scheduled to be completed by spring of next year, the 3.2-acre park will include a dog park, one-acre lawn, paths, picnic tables, a children's area, and a Portland Loo.

The Fields is the third of four parks envisioned in a 2001 study prepared for the River District URA. Jamison Square and Tanner Springs, two of the other parks, opened in 2002 and 2005, respectively. A potential Riverfront Park is also outlined in the study.

The land was generously donated by Hoyt Street Properties and the construction cost is being covered by Portland Development Commission funding, and funds from System Development Charges that PP&R collects from new development and property improvements. No City general fund money is being used for the construction of park.

We're looking forward to the grand opening of the park and know that it will be a wonderful addition to our community.
