Rob Ingram Youth Summit Against Violence
April 18, 2012
Story by Sophia Kecskes
The Multnomah Youth Commission is proud to invite all youth to take a stand against violence in our community. The Rob Ingram Youth Summit Against Violence is the first summit of its kind, designed by youth, for youth. At the summit, youth and adults throughout our community will work to change the way violence is viewed and dealt with in our lives.
The day-long summit is divided into two parts. First, youth will caucus, build community, and consider youth-driven policy recommendations. Then, youth will have the opportunity to share their stories of violence with elected officials and community leaders and then engage in dialogue about how youth and adults can take steps to reduce violence in our community.
There is no cost to participate, and youth participants will get free lunch and a t-shirt. The event will also feature a raffle and other entertainment.
