On Sunday, Portland Parks & Recreation's staff joined the Brentwood-Darlington Neighborhood Association and other community members to celebrate the grand opening of Errol Heights Community Garden, the latest garden in our 1,000 Gardens intiative.
The 10,000 square foot garden added 45 new garden plots to the 1,600 currently in the City’s program. The gardens encourage public access to sustainable food practices, outdoor activities, and strengthens communities.
We will celebrate the openings of Ed Benedict, Grant, and Kenton community gardens this June, which will add another 258 plots for Portlanders waiting to grow their own food this season!
We also expect to open a new garden in Thomas Cully Park and Helensview School this summer, and will continue to provide community partners with support as they expand and grow.
