Huffington Post features "American Winter"
September 5, 2012
Middle class families are one pink slip, one health care emergency,
one unanticipated event from going from middle class to very vulnerable.
The American Winter film documents how commonplace this has become.
- Commissioner Nick Fish
Nick was pleased to speak with HuffPost Live, a Huffington Post webcast, this morning to discuss poverty - one of our community's, and the nation's, biggest crises.
The Huffington Post shared clips from American Winter, a powerful documentary about struggling American families, by Emmy Award-winning duo Joe and Harry Gantz. The film focuses on several Oregon families seeking services like emergency shelter, groceries from food banks, assistance paying utilities, foreclosure relief, and help with medical bills.
The production of the film is wrapping up, and the producers are working to raise an additional $25,000 to help finalize the documentary. A Kickstarter fundraising page has been set up to gather donations.
Visit American Winter’s website to learn more about the project.
