Oregon Rail Heritage Center opens its doors
September 24, 2012
Nick was proud to join the Oregon Rail Heritage Foundation and the Portland community at the grand opening of the Oregon Rail Heritage Center on Saturday.
The Center, located at the hub of rail activity on the east side, now houses Portland's historic SP 4449, SP&S 700 and OR&N 197 steam locomotives. Visitors can tour the decades-old trains, and learn about their storied history.
Over 6,300 visitors enjoyed the inaugural weekend of the Heritage Center.
Earlier in the morning, the community also celebrated the grand opening of the Eastside Streetcar - a perfect day to celebrate Portland's rail history and its future.
