We are pleased to learn that the new Blanchet House of Hospitality has earned a LEED Platinum rating, the highest award for sustainability given by the U.S. Green Building Council.

Last month, Nick was honored to join Blanchet House of Hospitality Board members, volunteers, and community members at the grand opening of this very special building located in the Old Town China Town neighborhood.  

For over 60 years, Blanchet House has faithfully served community members in need - providing safe shelter, hot meals, job assistance, and health services.

The 36,500 square foot, four-story building tripled Blanchet's old space, and increased the number of beds for those in need from 28 to 75.

The building's sustainable features include a rainwater harvesting system with a 63,000 gallon tank, use of natural light, occupancy sensors, high-efficiency mechanical systems, and low-flow water fixtures.

The Portland Housing Bureau was proud to invest $4 million to support Blanchet House for the next 60 years.
