North Park Blocks welcomes Memory 99

October 22, 2012

On Friday, Nick joined Mayor Adams, sculptor Lee Kelly, the Pacific Northwest College of Art (PNCA), and community members to welcome Kelly's sculpture, Memory 99, to the North Park Blocks.

Kelly graduated from PNCA in 1959, when the school was known as the Museum Art School.  Memory 99 is one of Kelly’s best known architectural sculptures, and was created with Cor-Ten steel that is 23 feet wide, 11 feet high, and over 6 feet in depth.

The installation of Memory 99 was made possible by a grant from the Visual Arts Program of The Ford Family Foundation to help preserve public access to works of consequence by Oregon’s most significant visual artists.

The sculpture will be the centerpiece of future improvements to the North Park Blocks, and will highlight the growth of PNCA's campus, including the new Arlene and Harold Schnitzer Center for Art and Design.
