Macdonald West brings affordable homes to Old Town
December 7, 2012
Yesterday, the Macdonald Center celebrated the grand opening of their new seven story building, Macdonald West.
The Macdonald Center has been serving neighbors in the Old Town/China Town neighborhood since 1999. The Center helps low-income families and older adults join together to build connections and a sense of community.
The new Macdonald West building includes 42 affordable homes for low-income people and families. The building also houses a "visiting program" where residents can enjoy visits from college students and other volunteers.
The Portland Housing Bureau was proud to invest $100,000 in Tax Increment Financing to help bring these new, affordable homes to Old Town.
