Oregon Experience: Bull Run
February 14, 2014
On Monday night at 9pm, OPB’s Oregon Experience will share the story of our Bull Run Watershed.
Drinking water from the Bull Run first flowed to Portland in 1895. Today, the watershed provides nearly 1 million Oregonians with some of the best drinking water in the world.
OPB’s Bull Run episode captures the fascinating history of our drinking water, beginning in the 1870s when Oregon was still frontier land. Our 19th-century Oregonians created a visionary system to provide clean, quality water to Portland residents, as well as maintain the fragile ecosystem of the region.
Today, the Portland Water Bureau and the US Forest Service collaborate and continue that tradition, upholding the integrity of the Bull Run Watershed with its lush forests and delicious water.
Bull Run is located in the Mt. Hood National Forest, only 26 miles from Portland. Sign up for a tour between July and October.
