Art for everyone

April 25, 2014

Portland’s thriving arts culture is accessible to everyone!

As Arts Commissioner, Nick believes that everyone in our community should be able to enjoy the arts – free of financial hardship or discrimination.

The City is proud to partner with a number of arts organizations that expand access to arts programs and performances across Portland.

Arts for All is dedicated to providing art opportunities for low-income families.  Since 2011, Arts for All has offered Oregon Trail Card users $5 tickets to many art performances and events in Portland.  Funded by the Regional Arts & Culture Council (RACC), Work of Art, and the City of Portland, Arts for All now includes over 50 participating arts organizations and nonprofits.

In addition to Arts for All, RACC funds many arts organizations that are helping bring the arts to new, diverse audiences.  One of the requirements of RACC-funded organizations is that all performances must be available to public – without discrimination – and must take place in venues that are fully accessible for people with disabilities. Many organizations also offer discount performances and tickets, such as buying tickets on a sliding scale.

The Portland Ballet, the Oregon Children’s Theater, the Baroque Orchestra, and more - there is something for everyone. Check out RACC’s website for a list of free or discounted art opportunities
