May 21, 2014
This morning, City Council was pleased to welcome Lincoln High School’s award-winning Constitution Team to City Hall.
Last month, Lincoln’s Constitution Team won first place at We the People: The Citizen and the Constitution 2014 National Finals! First among 56 of the nation’s best high school teams, Lincoln demonstrated their top-notch knowledge of the Constitution and Bill of Rights in simulated congressional hearings in Washington, D.C. Nick was proud to read a Proclamation in their honor, naming May 21 a day of recognition for their outstanding achievement.
2014 marks the third year in a row that a Portland school brought home the national title. Oregon boasts more national titles than any other state in the U.S.
Lincoln High’s band drum unit led this morning’s celebration, and Lincoln Principal Peyton Chapman, Classroom Law Project Executive Director Marilyn Cover, and students Maddie Lee and Sophia Mautz shared their experiences in our nation’s capital.
Congratulations Lincoln! We are very proud of you!
