Grow green grass

The hot sun is here to stay for a while. Get creative and irrigate your lawn to save water – and money.
Water consumption is at the highest during the sunny, summer months. Avoid using too much water (and spending extra cash) on your lawn with these simple irrigation tips from the Portland Water Bureau:
- Prep your lawn with organic compost. Healthy soils require less water.
- Group plants together that have similar irrigation needs.
- Water in the late evening or early morning, when it isn’t as hot.
- Use a water gauge, or even a tuna fish can, to ensure you don’t over-water your lawn - one inch per week is generally enough.
