A Cleaner Johnson Creek

March 2, 2015

While the Northeast is still buried in snow, Portland has had one of its warmest winters on record. Take advantage of the sunshine this Saturday, and help clean up the Johnson Creek Watershed in southeast Portland!

Johnson Creek flows from Boring, Oregon through Portland to the Willamette River. It passes through forests, farms, neighborhoods, and more. About 170,000 people live within its 52 square mile watershed, and it’s one of our most important environmental resources.

The Johnson Creek Watershed Council is a local volunteer group dedicated to protecting, restoring, and enhancing the watershed. The Bureau of Environmental Services is proud to partner with the Council on Saturday, March 7, for its annual Watershed Wide event. Join hundreds of fellow volunteers to plant native trees and shrubs, eliminate invasive plants like ivy and blackberry, and learn why this work is so important to keep the watershed healthy!

For more information and to sign up for a volunteer spot, visit the Johnson Creek Watershed Council’s website.
