Developers must do more to solve Portland’s housing crisis
October 27, 2015
Portland is experiencing a housing crisis.
In the last three years, private developers have built 11,000 new apartments in Portland.
Just 2% of them are affordable to low-and moderate income families.
At a time when 70,000 households are rent burdened, and over 20,000 families living in poverty can’t afford to live here, what is the responsibility of developers to address our housing crisis?
This is the question I address in my recent Oregonian op-ed.
