OHSU Knight Cancer Research Building Ribbon Cutting
September 7, 2018
Today, Nick was honored to attend the ribbon cutting for Oregon Health & Science University’s new Knight Cancer Research Building.
Dr. Brian Druker, the director of the Knight Cancer Institute, has a bold vision to cure cancer as we know it. The research that gets us there will take place in this new facility – as Dr. Druker put it: “the end of cancer begins here.”
Located at OHSU’s South Waterfront campus, construction began in July 2016. In January, Nick joined Dr. Druker at a sneak peak of the facility. It’s a cutting-edge space for scientists, data analysts, and researchers to work collaboratively to find a cure for cancer.
The building was funded through a substantial public-private partnership, including a major donation from Phil Knight. The City of Portland lobbied the State Legislature to contribute $200 million in bonding authority toward the project.
