Development Services Center Appointment

DSC AppointmentThis program provides an alternative for DSC customers who want to obtain information about development. Current programs allow customers to visit the DSC to be assisted on a first-come, first-served basis.

This alternative program allows interested customers to pay a $75 fee to schedule a 30-minute Time Certain Appointment, which eliminates the need to wait in line.

DSC Appointment applicants can request to meet with a staff person from various specialties, including:

  • Site Development (Geotech, Soils)
  • Permitting Services (Permit Processing and Fees)
  • Planning & Zoning (Zoning Code and Land Use)
  • Life Safety (Building Code)
  • Structural Engineering

During this 30-minute appointment, you may ask as many questions as time allows. A copy of the appointment notes will be provided at the conclusion of the appointment and will be attached to our Permitting Database for future reference.

Keep in mind that staff does not research the property or questions you have prior to the appointment.  No action will be taken on any active permits or cases at the appointment.

Instead, if you have a complex project or questions, you may want to take advantage of the following options:

For Zoning Code assistance, if a project is submitted on a property with multiple permits or land use reviews, an Early Assistance (EA) appointment (for which research is conducted prior to the appointment) is the preferred approach. Similarly, if an applicant seeks input from multiple agencies, an EA is the best option.

For Building Code assistance, a Life Safety Preliminary Meeting may be your best option. Schematic drawings and questions are submitted prior to the meeting, and a Life Safety Plans Examiner will research your questions beforehand, for a more comprehensive discussion at the scheduled meeting.  A Structural Plan Reviewer or Fire Plans Examiner may also be requested to attend this meeting.

Time Certain DSC Appointments will be scheduled during the following times:

» Two Wednesday mornings, (8:30am and 9:30 am)
» Two Friday afternoons, (1:30pm and 2:30pm)

Appointments will be scheduled a minimum of six (6) calendar days prior to the occurrence of the meeting to allow anticipation of staffing needs.

Applicants may sign up for appointments online or by filling out this form and submitting it to the DSC.
