The Wastewater group operates Portland's wastewater collection and treatment system. Solids removed during the sewage treatment process are recycled into biosolids, a beneficial soil amendment. The Wastewater group monitors, operates, and maintains nearly 100 sewage pump stations, the Columbia Boulevard and Tryon Creek wastewater treatment plants, and the sanitary sewage and stormwater collection system.

The Wastewater Group protects public health, water quality, and the environment by operating and maintaining wastewater and stormwater collection and treatment facilities and managing programs in a manner that assures compliance with all applicable permits, regulations and contracts.
