Master Plan Update  - As presented at the public meeting held on May 31, 2017.

The Willamette Greenway Trail is an important resource to our region and a unique opportunity to connect to the river.

Once complete, the South Waterfront section of the Willamette Greenway Trail will connect bikers and walkers south to John’s Landing and Sellwood. To the north, the trail will connect to Portland’s downtown, bridges to the Central Eastside, and other connections north and east. This section is another critical link, which creates bike and pedestrian connectivity within the system.

The planning for this project is being done in tandem with ZRZ Realty (Zidell), the Portland Development Commission, Portland Bureau of Transportation, and the Oregon Health Science University. The Zidell Family has operated a business on this site for nearly 90 years. Beginning in 2011, ZRZ performed a $20 million clean-up which included 3,000 linear feet of riverbank restoration from top of bank to the river’s edge. The restoration work was based on the 2004 Greenway Development Plan. It calls for the creation of an urban community and the desire to create habitat along the Willamette River.

The Zidell Property Master Plan will include preliminary design of the North Reach of the South Waterfront Greenway with the goal of carefully and creatively transforming Zidell’s 33-acres into a project that all Portlanders view as special. Additionally, using information from the public, the size and location of future parks will be determined! In this phase of the project we will work with the community, businesses and other stakeholders to further refine the next section of trail.
