NE Glisan St Bridge Removal at NE 90th Ave

Project Description

The project will remove the existing bridge along NE Glisan St at NE 90th Ave and fill it with standard roadway materials. The bridge was built in 1911 and shows signs of deterioration, making it a potential hazard to buses and other heavy vehicles. In addition to the new embankment, the finished product will include ADA corner ramps, new pavement and striping, stormwater planters, trees, and a bus shelter.

This bridge initially served as a viaduct in the early 1900's, crossing over the railway connecting Montavilla to Bull Run. Since the end of the trolley service in the 1930's, the areas adjacent to the bridge had been filled in, concealing the presence of the bridge.

Temporary Traffic Impacts

During construction, NE Glisan St will remain open with one lane operational in each direction. Pedestrians will have access to one sidewalk through the site at all times. In addition, NE 90th Ave will be completely closed on each side of NE Glisan St. See the Project Location Map for more details.

The TriMet Line 19 bus stops on NE Glisan St. will be relocated nearby. There will also be turning restrictions to/from NE Glisan St. between NE 90th Ave and NE 93rd Ave.

Schedule

10/31/16 UPDATE: Asphalt paving was completed October 28th and traffic has been returned to 2 lanes in each direction. Lane line striping and other minor work will be completed as weather allows.
