SW Multnomah Blvd / Garden Home Road Intersection Safety Project

Multnomah/Garden Home intersection

Description of changes to Multnomah/GH intersection (subject to further refinement):

  • A traffic signal will be used to control the intersection.
  • The east leg of SW Garden Home road will be realigned north to create a 4-way intersection with SW 69th (north leg) and Multnomah.
  • The intersection will feature signalized pedestrian crossings and bike lanes.  Specific design details will be provided later this year after PBOT begins design.
  • SW 69th (south leg) will be outside of the signalized intersection but still close enough that left turn movements will need to be restricted to improve safety.  PBOT will allow right turn into and out of SW 69th (south leg).
  • Old Market Pub will also be outside the signalized intersection but still close enough that some turning movements may need to be restricted.  Specific design details will be provided later this year.
  • SW 69th (north leg) will have signalized access to and from all directions.
  • The new traffic signal will feature the latest traffic signal technology including signal preemption for emergency vehicles.
