Spaces to Places

Spaces to Places

Turn an underutilized or underdeveloped space of public right-of-way into places where people want to gather and return.  Spaces to Places projects beautify, re-purpose, and energize public spaces into socially and culturally important site.

Spaces to Places Guidelines

Spaces to Places projects should be designed to be long-term projects.  These projects may occur on any street type that is adjacent to or in close proximity to a partnering business, residence, or organization.

A Spaces to Places project must be open to the public, and it must allow pedestrian and bicycle access.

Other design and maintenance considerations include but are not limited to:

  • Emergency vehicle access
  • It must not obstruct access to emergency resources such as fire hydrants
  • Maintained and cleaned
  • Full review by the City Traffic Engineer
