The Portland Water Bureau is designing a project to replace the water mains serving NW Penridge, Skyline Crest, and Greenleaf roads. These mains need to be replaced with larger sized pipe to improve fire suppression flow and home water service. A portion of the project will also build connections to the new Greenleaf Pump Station, currently under construction. The Portland Water Bureau is dedicated to providing safe, reliable water.
Construction will begin late summer or fall 2020. Work will occur in phases with periods of inactivity between phases. Crews will excavate, lay main line pipe, refill the excavation and apply temporary paving. A later crew will do the final paving. The current plan is to limit open excavations to small sections to make access easier.
Due to dead-ends and narrow road sections along NW Penridge, Skyline Crest and Greenleaf roads, keeping access open to residents and emergency vehicles at all times will be challenging.
Water Bureau design engineers and the project team are working with the Portland Bureau of Transportation, Multnomah County, and Tualatin Valley Fire and Rescue to develop a plan to address emergency response needs during construction. Survey information gathered from area residents will greatly inform response plans.
